I facilitate a blend of the following modalities in my practice, as appropriate.
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a very effective hands-on technique that provides
sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and
restore motion. As John Barnes PT puts it, "At
first the elastic component of the fascia will release, and at some point in
time the collagenous barrier will be engaged. This barrier cannot be forced
(it is too strong). One waits with gentle pressure, and as the collagenous
aspect releases, the therapist follows the motion of the tissue, barrier
upon barrier until freedom is felt."
Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, relaxing method of releasing
restrictions in connective tissues of the body. The bones of the
skull and spine are used as handles to release the connective tissues
inside. Though the pressure is light, the work is felt deeply in
many cases - often getting to the root cause of long-term issues.
Progress is accumulative, with each session building on the previous
releases. My training has been through the Upledger Institute.
Visceral Manipulation releases restrictions in the internal organs and their supporting/surrounding connective tissues. This can help both with normalizing organ function, and helping ease associated skeltal/muscular/structural issues. My training has been through the Upledger Institute.
Works with areas that are weak or congested within
the energy field, and by use of various balancing techniques, can bring the
individual’s energy field to a more flowing, healthy, harmonious state.
Massage Therapy
Massage releases muscles and connective tissue through skin
contact, sometimes with deep pressure. For best results some
undressing will usually be suggested, to your level of comfort.
Professional draping is used, with only the part of your body worked on
being on top of the sheet at any time. Good for addressing
aches and pains, "knots", and overused muscles - or just relaxing.
My training is in Trigger Point and Swedish styles of Massage from
CenterPoint in Minneapolis.
I have been a member of the AMTA since 2000.
Zero Balancing
Another gentle modality, applying fulcrums to
the boney structures and allowing the body to reorganize itself around
the fulcrum. Works to help balance both the physical and energetic
structures of the body. My training has been through the Upledger
Institute.
